Typing test
300 correct characters and 0 wrong in 60 seconds is 60 WPM and 100% accuracy. Choose 15, 30, or 60 seconds.
Why this exists
WPM treats five characters as one word, so a short word and a long word are not the same amount of typing.

How this page works it out
This page times a run of words and reports words per minute. It divides the correct characters by 5, divides by the minutes, and rounds. 300 correct characters and 0 wrong in 60 seconds is 60 WPM and 100% accuracy. 50 correct characters and 10 wrong ones in 60 seconds is 10 WPM and 83% accuracy.
A correct cat adds 4 characters: three letters and the space after it. A wrong word adds those 4 to the wrong count. The run is 15, 30, or 60 seconds, and the clock starts on the first letter. A word still open at the end is not counted. 15 correct characters in 30 seconds is 6 WPM. A record under 1 second does not score.
The test stays in this browser. The character-count page measures a pasted passage and does not time a run. Closing the tab clears the run. Nothing is sent to a server.
