How this page works it out
This page divides a width and a height by their greatest common divisor to make an aspect ratio. 1920×1080 divided by 120 is 16:9, and the decimal is width divided by height, rounded at the third decimal place, which is 1.778. 800×600 is 4:3, decimal 1.333, divisor 200. 1080×1080 is 1:1, decimal 1.000, and 1080×1920 is 9:16, decimal 0.563.
Fit multiplies the known side by the ratio. A width of 1920 fitted to 16:9 has height 1080. A width of 1000 gives 1000×9÷16, which is 562.5, so the height is 563. A result that ends in .5 rounds away from zero, and an exact division does not show the rounding line. A width of 1920 fitted to 21:9 is 822.857, so the height is 823. 1280×720 also simplifies to 16:9, and its divisor is 80.
Width and height run from 1 to 100,000, and each part of a ratio runs from 1 to 10,000. Commas are removed before reading, and zero and fractions are not read. This page does not crop or save the pixels of a photo file. The numbers stay in this browser and are not sent to a server.
