2/4 is 1/2. 1/2 plus 1/3 is 5/6, and the decimal is 0.833333. 1/6 rounds to 0.166667 because the seventh digit is 5 or more. A denominator of 0 stops.
Why this exists
Addition matches the denominators and then adds the numerators. 1/2 and 1/3 become 3/6 and 2/6, so the sum is 5/6.
The mixed number 1 1/2 joins 1 and 1/2 into 3/2. A sign in front applies to the whole value.

How this page works it out
This page simplifies a fraction with whole numbers. The numerator and the denominator are divided by their greatest common divisor, and the sign stays on the numerator. 2/4 is 1/2, decimal 0.500000, and 0/5 is 0. 1/2 plus 1/3 matches the denominator at 6, so 3/6 and 2/6 make 5/6, decimal 0.833333. Subtracting them is 1/6, decimal 0.166667.
2/3 times 3/4 is 1/2, and 1/2 divided by 3/4 is 2/3, decimal 0.666667. 7/3 stays 7/3 and also shows the mixed number 2 1/3 and the decimal 2.333333. -1 1/2 is -3/2, and the mixed form is -1 1/2. A proper fraction or a whole number leaves the mixed line empty. Six decimal places round away from zero at the seventh digit.
Each number runs from 0 to 1,000,000, and commas are removed. 1,000/4 is 250. A decimal input such as 1.5, a sign on the denominator, a denominator of 0, and 1,000,001 stop. -2/4 is -1/2. A second fraction of 0 in Divide, such as 1/2 ÷ 0/1, stops. This arithmetic is separate from the percentage page, and the numbers stay in this browser.
